Hints on 30 Second Introductions – Breakfast Meeting

Filed under: Executive Director Center — Chamber @ 9:37 pm

We are told by the experts that you have about 25 seconds to make an impact on your audience.

Thereafter your audience tunes out.

Your name and company should be said at the end of your 30 second introduction. Some people don’t give their name or company, as they want the audience to remember the message, not their information.

In 25 seconds tell your audience the ONE MOST SIGNIFICANT THING you do (why are you different from other people in your occupation). Don’t give them a list, as they won’t retain the information.

A couple of strong one-liners or tag lines are ideal – if you create that instant interest people will come and talk to you after the breakfast to learn more.

Remember – you want people in your audience to remember you and come and speak to you after the breakfast meeting. If your introduction is more than 30 seconds the chance of this happening becomes remote.

Practice, practice, practice – you will be pleased you did.

SCORE

Filed under: Executive Director Center — Chamber @ 4:55 pm

The Chamber is looking into a partnership with SCORE. As you are aware SCORE offers great seminars and training in a variety of different topics aimed at helping small business owners.  We would like to be able to offer these programs, hopefully tailored to meet the needs of our members.

For those members not familiar with SCORE, they are a non-profit group of retired business professionals that make themselves available to help small business in a large range of fields.

Food Bank Short of Food – Help Please

Filed under: Executive Director Center — Chamber @ 6:32 pm

At the last Chamber mixer held at Nickel Creek Gallery, Pam Di Pietro of the Foothills Food Bank, announced that there are more and more new faces requesting food. This has placed a tremendous drain on food resources. She made an urgent appeal for either donations of cash or canned goods.

We as a Chamber can step up and help those who have fallen on hard times. Please do your part to help fill the shelves with food. If you call Pam she can tell you what canned foods they need the most.
